Two local charities benefited from a community service project to raise funds by the ‘Cohort 8’ participants of the Mirrors Programme.

Feed My Lambs Ministry and the New Beginnings Education Trust will split the $6,320 raised as a result of the first fundraising bowling tournament.

The tournament was held on July 20 at Strykz Bowling Lounge in St David’s.

Programme coordinator Kimberley Jackson said: “It is always a pleasure and rewarding to see what youth can accomplish when they have the support of their community behind them.

“You always know that you are doing a great thing when young people make the decision to give back.

“For these young people to make the choice to give specifically to the development of others in education speaks to the impact of their involvement with the Mirrors Programme.

Community Minister Wayne Scott extended a ‘big thank you’ to all the sponsors “for their contributions in support of worthwhile charitable causes while at the same time assisting young people to complete a community service project”.
